NAGOYA UNION CHURCH
NAGOYA UNION CHURCH
A SMALL CHURCH WITH A BIG LOVE FOR GOD
MINISTRIES AT NUC
MEN'S BIBLE STUDY
"Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them." (Psalm 111:2)
An afternoon bible study is held before the worship service on the 2nd Sunday of each month. We meet at 2:30 pm, in the small room on the third floor of the chuch.
In 2024, we are currently reading through the Gospel of John.
CHILDREN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL
"Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
The vision of Sunday school is to lead the children towards Christ, enriching them with His knowledge and His love, and preparing them as His disciples.
Children's Sunday School is held during the service, after the worship and announcements. The kids are given a message by the pastor before the sermon begins, and then go up to the third floor for a Sunday School lesson. The kids listen to bible stories and then we sing songs and end with a prayer. The children enjoy doing crafts too.
We invite kids to join us to have a fun-filled and Christ-centered learning time.
WORSHIP TEAM
"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music." (Psalm 98:4)
Rejoice in the Lord always! We want to enjoy His presence and grow deeper in love with Jesus. Our praise and worship team has the piano as our main instrument and a trumpet. We also have singers of all ages. Our church sometimes sings hymns, and also there are times we use recorded audio to play modern praise songs. The word of God teaches us to sing to the Lord a new song, and we are happy to receive new praise and worship songs from our congregation as we keep on adding songs to our list. We welcome you to join and share your gifts in this ministry and offer it to the Lord that it may please our Mighty God!
SMALL GROUP FELLOWSHIP
There is a "care group" that meets online twice a month to discuss the previous Sunday's sermon. Meetings are on Thursday from 8:00 p.m. For more information, please speak to Tsai.
In addition to this, there are some opportunities to meet during the week with fellow Christians to share a coffee, chat, read scripture and pray together. The time and place of these fellowships are always changing to meet the needs of our members. For the latest information, please get in touch with any of the church leaders.
WEDDING MINISTRY
Christian weddings are one way that the church can speak the Gospel to Japanese people who haven’t heard it yet. We provide a wedding service to anyone who wants a genuine Christian wedding. If you have decided a venue, we can work with your chosen wedding company to provide some pre-marriage counseling and one of our pastors can perform the service.
PRAYER SUPPORT
Living in another country brings with it a whole lot of extra stresses and problems on top of daily life and work. As well as providing practical help when we can, we are also eager to pray with anyone who needs some extra wisdom and strength from the Lord.
MINISTRIES WE SUPPORT
MISSIONARY TO THE MIDDLE-EAST
We support Mana (not her real name) who is reaching out to muslim people in the Middle-east. It's a dangerous place to speak God's word, and we are praying for her protection and wisdom as she witnesses for Christ.
HOMELESS MINISTRY
Knut Topland and his team are ministering to homeless people in central Nagoya. They have an outside church service near Oasis 21 on every first and every third Saturday in the month. After the service, they distribute bento boxes and talk with the people who have attended.
ASIAN RURAL INSTITUTE
Each year, NUC gives prayer and financial support to the Asian Rural Institute. Here, people from all over Asia gather to learn farming and agricultural techniques, which they can take back to their own countries with them. Students are also taught theology and evangelism, and are discipled in the ways of Christ. (You can see their website here.)
THE NAVIGATORS
The Navigators is a ministry that shares the gospel of Jesus and helps people grow in their relationship with Him through Life-to-Life discipleship, creating spiritual generations of believers (click here to go to their website). Since its founding in 1933, The Navigators has upheld the mission “To know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same.”
In particular, our church has a special relationship with Mitsuna, who is working with The Navigators in northern Japan, reaching out to university students there.
JESUS IN JAPAN
For many years, Peter Warner was a regular fixture on the streets of Nagoya. Always carrying a large wooden cross with him, he preached and taught and sang hymns to the gospel of Christ to all who walked by.
He befriended the homeless, gave generously to those in need, and spoke words of hope and joy to those who needed it.
On August 12, 2018, while preparing to speak at a church youth event, Peter collapsed and went to be with the Lord. This photo and this description of his ministry is left on our website as a testimony to the wonderful work that the Lord did through Peter's life and words. He was an inspiration to many.
THE LIVENGOOD FAMILY
David and Sarah Mae Livengood, with their children, have come to Japan to share the good news with the people here. David has a gift of music which he uses to lead worship at his church. He is also working hard in language school to improve his Japanese ability.
Please keep the Livengood family in your prayers, as they follow the Lord and use their gifts to serve the people of Japan.

JAPAN INTERNATIONAL FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY
Japan International Food for the Hungry (click here )
works to alleviate hunger all over the world, in Jesus' name. 1 in 7 people in the world suffers from hunger, while in Africa, that number is 1 in 3. We support the work that JIFH does to bring food to people who need it.
OTHER MINISTRIES
We also give prayer and financial support to a number of other ministries, including: Compassion International, The Voice of the Martyrs, and The Gideons International (Japan).
