Firm Foundations: God's Word

(The following is a shortened version of the message preached by Pastor Michael on July 13, 2025.)

We all want more confidence, peace, and hope. But to truly experience those things, we must base our lives on something unchanging and eternal: God’s character, His love, and His Word.
Nothing else—our job, health, money, or relationships—is truly secure. Only God’s Word offers an unshakeable foundation. In times of hardship, God’s promises anchor us. Hebrews 6:17–19 reminds us that God cannot lie and His promises give us strength and stability. Even in life’s storms—emotional, financial, relational—we can hold firm by focusing on God's truth rather than our weaknesses, as David did in Psalm 119:81.
Ephesians 4:14 warns against being “tossed about” by false ideas and deceit. Our modern world—especially the internet—often leads people into confusion and despair. We face storms from discouraging problems, disappointing people, and defeating perceptions. We also lose hope when we don’t know who we are, why we’re here, or where we’re going.
To build a life of hope, there are three key truths based on God's Word:

1. Build your identity on what God says about you.
Your identity isn’t defined by culture, social media, or others’ opinions. It is defined by God, who created you, loves you, and chose you. Acts 17:26–28 tells us God appointed your place and time in history for a reason—so that you would seek Him. You are valuable, acceptable, chosen, and deeply loved. God engraved you on His hands (Isaiah 49:16), and Jesus’ death proves your worth. Make Jesus the most important voice in your life—because how you see yourself should reflect what He says about you.

2. Build your life mission on God’s purpose for you.
You were made for a reason. Acts 13:36 says David served God’s purpose in his generation before he died. That’s a life well lived. You too have a unique purpose in your time. When you embrace God’s purpose, it brings clarity and direction to your life.

3. Build your future on God’s promises.
Human promises often fail, but God’s promises never do. If you trust Jesus for salvation, your future is secure—even if life brings uncertainty. Acts 2:25–27 and Acts 24:15 affirm the resurrection and eternal life for those in Christ. Everyone will be resurrected, but where we spend eternity—heaven or hell—depends on our response to God’s invitation. 1 Thessalonians 4:13–14 reminds believers that we grieve with hope, knowing death is not the end but a doorway to life with God.

In conclusion, to live a fearless, hope-filled life, we must anchor ourselves in God’s Word. Read it daily, let it reshape your identity, define your purpose, and give you confidence about the future.
Let us stop drifting and anchor our lives to the truth of God.
