NAGOYA UNION CHURCH
A SMALL CHURCH WITH A BIG LOVE FOR GOD
(The following is an outline of the sermon preached by Michael Larsen on May 19, 2019.)
The Bible says we're saved by grace. Not only that, we're forgiven by grace. We're sustained by grace. We're healed by grace. We're liberated by grace. We're given talents by grace. We're also kept saved by grace.
As we conclude this series, I want to ask the question, “How do I receive the grace of God?” The Bible says in three simple words: By trusting Christ.
John 1:17: “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
Romans 5:11 “Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”
When Jesus died on the cross, He did three things.
1. He paid the penalty for sin.
2. He broke the power of sin.
3. The presence of sin will be obliterated.
As we conclude the series, I want to give you three ways you can express gratitude for God's grace.
1. I CAN SHOW MY GRATITUDE FOR GOD'S GRACE BY MAKING MY LIFE COUNT.
1 Corinthians 6:20 “You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”
2. BY BECOMING A GENEROUS PERSON.
2 Corinthians 9:7-8 says “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
3. BY SHARING THE GOOD NEWS OF GRACE.
Acts 20:24 says “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.”
The way we show our gratitude for the grace of God is by making our own lives count, by living a life of generosity, and by telling as many people as we can about the good news.
